Can You Smell That?

Why do they do it? Why do they overstate their accomplishments? I deal primarily with real estate investors, developers, builders, etc. I equally enjoy working with newcomers as to working with seasoned veterans. The veterans I know and work with regularly generally don’t talk about what all they’ve done. But, if I do a little searching in real estate records, corporate records, etc., there they are. Deal after deal after deal.

So why is it when some people discover a new service like yours or mine they seem to go out of their way to create a non-existent, undocumentable history when it doesn’t even make any difference to me? It only serves to make me more cynical when people call and tell me what all they’ve done.

Broker? Lender? Loan Officer? Broker Individual? Broker Company?

The language gets confusing, I know. Maintaining national mortgage licenses does also. Does the title even make a difference? You BET it does!

In Georgia, the state with which I am most familiar, anyone who has a clean criminal background (no crimes that would endanger borrowers) and gets hired by a mortgage company can be a Loan Office. It’s a shame and as a Broker/Lender I’ve been petitioning for years to have ALL Loan Officers in my state licensed. Many should absolutely not be in the business.

Holiday Season Has Begun

I’m sure each area of the nation has different periods of activity and market change. In Atlanta and most of the South “Holiday Season”, or at least the atmosphere created by the series of Holidays to come, begins with Labor Day. That’s our last big “lake weekend” or huge cookouts. Sure there are other days we’ll go to the lake or have a cookout or whatever but this is the last big “hoorah”.
